Even before we are born our subconscious is open to input from our life experiences. Until we reach around five or six years of age we receive many suggestions and ideas that determine how we feel about ourselves and how we behave, without the critical influence of our conscious minds. From then on the conscious mind analyses and filters the thoughts and beliefs that we adopt. If we experience atraumatic event or negative influence as we mature, the critical function of the conscious can be bypassed allowing negative andunproductive beliefs to become established in the subconscious.

Likewise the conscious mind can then resist and filter out what could be constructive helpful beliefs and allow in further unhelpful negative ideas. Once the belief is established, it takes direct communication with the subconscious to change it. This is where Hypnotherapy comes in.
