No point hiding the truth about depression

This young man was the life of the party, he always had friends and people always thought he was a relaxed happy guy. However as he says here in his Ted talk he was hiding his depression from everyone and no one rally knew how bad it got for him. This is not something we need to feel sorry about, but I agree with him when he says that people have to start to talk about what is really happening. A lot of people are going through hard times emotionally in many different ways. Whether it be depression or anxiety, dealing with grief or guilt or sadness. All of these feeling we shut away and don’t let anyone know. Society has a way of categorising everything into a “condition” making it sterile and matter of fact. But, sometimes I think that we have lost the simple fact that we are all the same and that we have to support and understand each other rather than condemning others for things they have trouble with. If we took a moment to just realise the simple fact that other people are just the same as us then we might stop judging each other.
